Content Moderation Policy

STATUS: DRAFT. This document has not been reviewed by licensed counsel. It describes how Sparkshed actually behaves today and is published so that behaviour is inspectable, but it is not legal advice and it is not a finished agreement. See the counsel review packet for what is still outstanding.

Our commitment

Sparkshed is a community for learning, creativity, and building useful devices. We are committed to maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for makers of all ages and skill levels.

Prohibited content

The following types of content are not permitted on Sparkshed:

1. Illegal content: designs or descriptions that violate applicable laws.

2. Harmful content: designs intended to harm people, animals, or property — including weapons, explosives, and safety-circumvention devices.

3. Harassment: content that harasses, bullies, or threatens others.

4. Hate speech: content that promotes violence or hatred against protected groups.

5. Sexually explicit content: Sparkshed is used by learners as young as 10. Keep all content appropriate for a general audience.

6. Spam: repeated posting of identical or near-identical content.

7. Impersonation: pretending to be another person or organization.

8. Copyright infringement: posting designs or content you do not own or have permission to share.

Reporting

If you see content that violates this policy, use the Report button on the content or contact moderation@sparkshed.dev.

Reports are reviewed by human moderators. We aim to respond within 48 hours.

We protect the privacy of reporters. Your identity will not be shared with the reported user.

Consequences

First violation: content removed, warning issued.

Repeat violations: account temporarily suspended.

Severe or repeated violations: account permanently terminated.

Appeals: contact moderation@sparkshed.dev with your account details and the content in question.

Automated screening

Publicly visible content (titles, descriptions, tags, display names) is automatically screened for prohibited keywords before publication. Flagged content is held for human review.
